Now download and fire up the latest copy of Ham Radio Deluxe. After installing the driver for the cable, the laptop did see an extra com-port. Fred did already bought a cable for rig control. So these two things I want to help him with. He did connect the rig via the Signalink to his laptop, but didn’t yet use rig control (Cat-V).

Actually this combination works really well! He is doing great in QSO’s! The only thing missing was a good logbook. Since a few months he bought a Signalink USB and works all different digital modes with it. If you need to walk through anything else, just let me know via PM or qrz.com address.Last weekend I offered a friend of mine, Fred PA3YH, some help with his shack setup. Anyway, separating the audio and digital grounds solved the issue and I've been running FB with it since. Like I mentioned, this was a couple of years or so ago and I don't exactly recall what happened when I built it per spec, but the config didn't work probably some sort of RFI issue.

The one thing that I had to do to my cable to make it work correctly was to NOT connect the audio ground to the digital ground in the cable (Nav connector end).

  • Press EXIT/SET two times then SCOPE to return to "typical" screenĪs to the cable between the Navigator and the Icom, I made my own.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the list by pressing holding the F-2 button.
  • Just in case, here are the CI-V settings in my ProII (they are probably defaults, I don't recall changing anything when configuring with the Navigator, but could be wrong): I say "mostly" because a few settings are of course optimized to my personal operating preferences, but I can say that all of those were in place prior to configuring the Navigator to the ProII. I don't recall making any changes to the default settings with the ProII menu items. I think for digital the Navigator is more sensitive than the SignaLink USB box the Navigator replaced. GM Don, I run a ProII with a Navigator and have been for about 2 years or so the Navigator is a great box, not just for digital, but also has true RTTY (vs AFSK) as well as a built-in K1EL keyer.
